I felt the movie was missing something. It seemed a little long unnecessarily. I loved the characters, and I loved the way they connected LOTR. I would go pay to see this movie, but it just didn't move me as much as the LOTR. I thought the Desolation of Smaug was excellent though. I guess I expected a more climatic ending. Now as for the screening of this movie; maybe it was just our theatre, but it was so tiny on our big screen (almost half the size of other movies), and sounded tinny. It was almost as if you were standing in the movie set knowing it was a movie set. At first I thought "Are we watching a rough unedited version?" then I realized it was the actual movie. I'm not sure if it was a new style of filming, but it was so obvious and it was very distracting from the movie itself. The music radiated through the surround sound, but the voices were just tinny sounding.
