    The Hundred-Foot Journey

The trailers for The Hundred-Foot Journey made this movie look like a cheesy, predictable and heart-warming flick. Well, that's exactly what this movie ended up being, and I really enjoyed it. The story follows an Indian family as they move to France and try to start an Indian restaurant across the street from a very successful and classy French restaurant lead by Helen Mirren. Yes, this story has been done many times before, but not with this much heart. The plot is incredibly predictable, and I guessed most plot-points correctly before they happened. Even if the story is cheesy and predictable, it is fun to watch and keeps your interest until the very end. The entire cast is superb. Helen Mirren gives a wonderful performance, even if her French accent isn't perfect. The rest of the cast gives wonderful performances that just simply work for the movie. The best part of this film is the tone. It is a warm and occasionally very funny movie that is just... comfortable. Even sitting in the very front row of the cinema, I didn't mind it with this movie. The dialogue is decent, even if there are a few mediocre lines spoken. The jokes rarely fall flat and the whole audience was frequently laughing. The cinematography is beautiful and the soundtrack really fit into the French and Indian aspects of the film. Overall, The Hundred-Foot Journey is a predictable and cheesy movie that is both heart-warming and funny. It's a movie that you don't need to rush out and see, but I would recommend seeing with your mom. RATING: 8.25/10.
