Being an avid Disney lover, particularly the older films I watched on VHS growing up, I've always been very fond of the Jungle Book. The movie started off with so many spot on visual reenactments of the original cartoon, the music and the waterfall particularly spot on.
Many elements were changed to make this version its own version, which made a story that I knew and loved, new and exciting. Some added elements such as a glimpse into Mowgli's past made everything a bit more in depth, which I appreciated seeing.
The voice actors chosen for all of these characters were spot on, each and everyone one of them believable. Props the young actor who played Mowgli, a difficult role to play given that he was really the only human and had to interact with puppets during filming. Overall the last fifteen or twenty minutes certainly was the most interesting, and all of it was visually appealing and kept my interest. King Louie was particularly scary, and Idris Elba as Shere Khan was, in my opinion, the best casting.
