The Muppets version of Charles Dickens’ famous novel “A Christmas Carol” is a well-made motion picture version of the classic. Michael Caine decently acts in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge. The Muppets give a strong performance of course - Gonzo, Rizzo, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Robin, Waldorf, Statler, etc… Effective big screen presentation of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Note that the costume, makeup, set design, and puppeteering are first rate. The music, songs, and special effects are also well done. The one thing I wish though is that Fozzie had a larger role in the film given he is a major Muppet figure. Brian Henson, the son of Muppets creator Jim Henson, produced and directed the movie. This was the first Muppets movie made after the death of Jim Henson and fellow puppeteer Robert Hunt of which I am sure they would be both pleased with this motion picture had they been alive. I must admit having a Muppets version of the “A Christmas Carol” does seem somewhat strange to produce, but the original story from the novel is for the most part followed. Overall, the film is fun, warm-hearted, and entertaining.
