The Raven was a let-down for me. The whole flick was quite forgettable. The previews gave me an impression that this would be a thriller or even a slasher-type movie. It was neither. This would remind you of a Criminal Minds episode as the two lead characters spell out the logic of each step they take. There are only about eight characters in the movie so guessing the culprit was simple math. As for the assorted clues, they were a stretch in the leave-your- brain-at-the-door department. The best part of the movie, in my view, was the actual cinematography. This director has an interesting eye. Many scenes were aesthetically fascinating. There was a monochromatic feel to every scene. I felt though that the aspect of terror or macabre was not enhanced. As you may know Edgar Allan Poe wrote some very disturbing stuff that was drenched in fear and blood. This movie lacked that element. Wait for the thing to come put on DVD/Blu ray. It won’t be in the theaters for more than a few weeks.
