This re-make of 'The Sound and the Fury' does not fare too badly especially as it has some real meat from the Faulkner novel. I think that one of the main problems is that many don't take James Franco too seriously, especially after his ludicrous comedic ventures and his delving into many American literary classics that have gone awry. It's all too bad because he does not disappoint with this performance, but his numerous past failings have moved him out of the 'A' list of actors in many viewers' eyes. In truth, he has been his own worst enemy by taking on work that was beneath him. It all has come back to haunt him, I believe.
