    The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music is one of the greatest movie musicals. I have seen this movie several times. This 1960’s timeless classic has the story taking place in Austria just before the start of World War II. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer give superb performances with a strong supporting cast. The movie flows from start to finish with memorable songs, music, and dance which makes it very fitting for it to have the title “Sound of Music”. The cinematography, set design, and costumes are superb. The script is intelligent as it has many elements dealing with faith, romance, war, conviction, and comedy. It is very rare to see the music of a musical to support directly the plot of a movie – The Sound of Music achieves this.
