There were too many holes in the plot and sub-plots to give this film a 10. Some of the frames, though, were overwhelming in their beauty and serenity. The town in the aftermath of war was as frightening as it was picturesque and, for those who hadn't thought about it, the film demonstrated how movies were shown in communities prior to the mega mall complexes. I got a reminder of Guillermo del Toro through both the soundtrack and the shadows. This, like Pan's Labyrinth, is a fairytale. Actually, it's a great film.
