Maybe, I've seen a better film in the last couple of years, but seldom did I fall into belief I'd been transported.
I've spent time in Cambridge and found it a place where one's higher facalties thrive. It's historic, ethereal and just vibrates cerebral mojo!
This film conveys its span of time and the interaction of the principle characters believably.
The casting is spot on, in all roles the performances fulfill the character to best effect.
Eddie Redmayne is wholly exceptional here, because he toes the line and works the man infull, not the disability. It's true, that roles portraying challenged souls are often trophy bound, but this work is on higher ground. Very laudable. Felicity Jones equally meritorious, and her choice of how to ballast her character, but give full traction to her challenges is exemplary.
Maxine Peake's performance is also impressive, from the moment her character hits the screen, you know the dynamic just amplified!
I'll give a 10 to the best film, I've not seen yet, and some David Lean I have.
This film, a high 7, the acting a solid 9, overall a 9 also, but just.
