First of all, I like Russel Crowe in almost every movie he has made. This movie only added to that list. This Australian man's journey to find his sons' remains at Galipoli was riveting to watch. It showed the waste and human side of war. It is mildly anti-British and clearly reflects Australian attitude to what was their most devastating loss in WWI. British officers back then had little regard for colonial soldiers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India and used them as nothing more than cannon fodder more than not. I saw a side of Turkey that I have never seen before and while the love story might have been a stretch the rest was believable. The little boy and his mother were scene stealers for sure. An enjoyable movie from start to finish.
