    Tom Jones

One of the greatest films of the 60's, Tom Jones is a joyous romp of an illigitimate child who grows up to be a smart, cocky handsome bloke in 18th Century England. Albert Finney gives the performance of his career in an Oscar Nominated Performance. Tony Tichardson won Best Director in the delightful way in which he filmed this daring and amusing tale. Diane Cilento, Dame Edith Evans and Joyce Redman were all nominated as Best Supporting Actress for their magnificent work. As often happens when 2 or 3 are nominated in the same category from the same film, everyone goes home empty handed!
