A movie with great thrilling stars and performances but above all else a picture perfect 'film noir' with immense style, great B & W cinematography and camera shots and angles that will amaze even the most lack lustre of film goers. Orson Welles's screenplay and direction are perfect even though originally hacked by the film studio. Welles could never work conventionally within the studio system as he was too much of a genius, working for people who were basically imbeciles.
