What The Bleep Do We Know!?

This picture poses the questions of why do we exist and what is the purpose of our existence. It then tries to provide an answer using ideas from quantum physics. The film then ventures off into the realms of religion and spirituality. No doubt when one starts mixing science and religion, one ruffles the feathers of more than a few people and many will condemn the effort because it is impossible to be evenhanded, all encompassing and unbiased. But I argue that filmmakers can’t be all these things and tell a compelling story too. That said, if you keep an open mind and follow along with the ‘drama’ you eventually get a relatively straightforward answer to the questions first posed. What I like most about this picture is how viewers are encouraged to set up their own personal experiment to discover if the ‘theory’ is indeed correct. What a wonderful life one would have if one could mix conscious positive thought with absolute faith. For that, I think the picture deserves full credit, but the dramatizations within the film are certainly less than perfect or completely satisfying to sit through. Marlee Matlin and Elaine Hendrix give good performances and I think the filmmakers make an honest effort and are not trying to scam anybody.
