I don't know, I guess it's in the eye of the beholder but I for one don't think this movie deserves such low ratings. It's a good movie with an important story to tell. Is it a brilliant movie? I personally don't think so, the humor for some of it is very crude but it tells a good story about the reality journalists face in these war-torn countries and how they get caught up in the desperation of it all, not knowing if they'll live another day to tell another story. It's about how they think nothing of compromising their values to get the most spectacular story out there. They care about getting the facts to the public, at the basis of who they are but they forget that because of the games they get sucked into through the force of matters. The story's about a journalist, Tina Fey, who learns the true meaning of trust, friendship and the genuine meaning of life the hard way and then turns herself around so she can better live with herself. It's not as deep nor as meaningful as it could probably be but there is just enough humor in it to turn an otherwise dark subject into something that's endurable to watch. The message gets across, mission accomplished.
