I did not read the book, but was interested in seeing the film after hearing positive reviews and Reese Witherspoon was nominated for a best actress Oscar. The film was good but I did not feel it was as great as all the hype. Reese's performance was solid, but not comparable to the other women nominated in this category this year. The film is an interesting study about grief, personal growth, redemption and making one's own way through life. The scenery is very good and the narration was more interesting and compelling than Reese's onscreen time. I think this is a great film to watch on a plane, but not one I would be interested in seeing again or recommending to many people.
