    Woman of the Year

One of the very great romantic comedies directed by the immortal George Stevens Sr. who could and did make every genre of film. This feature starring Kate Hepburn and Spencer Tracey is especially significant as it was the first of a huge string of films the duo made together which lasted until the death of Spencer Tracey in 1966 before the release of " Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." I've enjoyed the film several times. The magic of Hepburn and Tracey is evident right from 1942... but the supporting cast including the fabulous Miss Fay Bainter (Oscar Winner in 1938's JEZEBEL), Reginald Owen, Minor Watson and William Bendix just makes everything more delightful. By the way! Woman of the Year was turned into a musical comedy for Broadway in the late seventies with Lauren Bacall reprising Miss Hepburn's role, a great turn for Miss Bacall who won her second TONY AWARD for Woman of the Year!
