Fantastic movie. Although it had a small budget, they pulled it off big time.

Nothing innovative here. A poorly concocted mix of Blair Witch, Cloverfield, and The Covenant minus anything remotely interesting. Weak storyline. Poor character development. No plot. I spent the hour and a half waiting for it to get better because I didn't believe it could possibly get worse. I was wrong.

It was to bad! I always get ticked off when it's done like that but for some reason this movie was worth seeing unlike the magy blair witch that was a total rip off!! To me that is.

I thought it was a pretty decent movie. The storyline and drama really get to you. I don't think it should be classified as horror though as it's really just a sci-fi flick. Really introspective movie as to what having too much power can sometimes do.

I loved it, it was awesome, but they cold have told us a little more at the start. I mean it kinda started out of nowhere, how did they discover they had powers, but it is still a very good movie.

So good, I always wished I could fly and go in the sky. Loved it but there was just a little something missing.

I found it enjoyable. Sort of like Blair Witch Project meets X-Men but more subtle. Nice pace, never had any real slow moments. The only quibble I had with it was near the end one of the characters did something that wasn't very clever that sort of sets things in motion for the end sequence.

The movie started out good, but then, about half way, took a really dark turn. The main character, Andrew, was extremely angry and aggressive, which made the movie almost unwatchable. I think had the anger been toned-down, it would have been a great film, but it was just uncomfortably angry at the end.

Not sure why everyone is complaining that that the found footage filming made them nauseated. You think people would be getting used to it. [...] This movie was extraordinary.

I had to leave the theatre. The hand-held camera technique, which made most scenes shaky, made me nauseated.

Really dumb! Really, really dumb! I wanted to just write "Dumb!" but they said that was too short. So, you get it... dumb!

Even though it's predictable in some places it's a great movie regardless. Brought me through a lot of different, strong emotions. I thought the special effects were great and to me the story and characters felt more real. The way it's filmed usually drives me insane but it wasn't all that bad compared to others. It's one of the better movies out there but I have to admit, there's no harm in waiting for it to come out on DVD.

Yeah it's another "found footage" movie, but it was well done and didn't leave me feeling like the story had holes in it. Excellent performances, a fun movie to watch even though it takes a dark turn.

Worst movie I have seen in years. The camera is too shaky and makes u very dizzy. I am a movie fanatic and to see the art of movie making go down the frickn drain with these so called 'footage style' 'live cam' movies just saddens me. I'll agree that 'Blaire Witch Project' and 'Paranormal Activity' were decent but c’mon, this was just awful. I like to watch a movie and not feel like throwing up after. And if u want to talk story and screenplay, this movie got none of those. I mean, how can u mess a movie up sooo bad. If u want a classic painfully disastrous movie, definitely go see this, cause sometimes u need to see the bad to appreciate the good lol. I feel really bad for the cinematographer who probably went through a lot of torture to put this pile of junk together. And the director and writer deserve a Razzie for this!

Surprisingly, I found the story about the actual "powers" these boys was secondary to the personal story of the main character Andrew. This movie was very very well done and it is one of those rare movies that will stay with me days after seeing it - to me that is a great movie. Acting was incredible by all. I highly recommend it. The dialogue between the three main characters reminded me of the guy friends I had in high school (30 years ago!) The trailer was very well done - not giving away too much like so many "Hollywood" films do. A must see. Don't let the high school party seen fool you.

Amazing movie. Anyone (though mainly guys I would imagine) who ever imagined having the force when they were a kid, will relate to this movie. This movie allowed me to re-live a childhood fantasy.

I gave this movie a 7 because it was different. I think there were a lot of holes in the story but a good example of how we are effected by our environment and how that affects our future choices.

It. Was ok. I mean a quarter of the movie was pretty good. Half of it is kinda borin and a quarter depressing. Also there were some plot holes. When Andrew pushed the car in the lake the friends got over it quickly. He messes up with a girl and now suddenly he's all evil and kills his friend, rips a bullies teeth out and tries to kill his dad. So to sum it up there were a few very good parts, but the plot holes would ruin it for someone who likes good plots.

The plot was good, and I liked the age choice of the characters. The only reason it did not get higher is from the messed up family issues with the one boy and his father.

I liked the premise, but for a movie with as little action, I needed the writing to be more interesting. I understand it was written by some pretty young guys so full marks for achieving a decent movie at such a young age, but for anyone past middle age, there was little I'd consider really thought provoking or original. That's OK in an action/fantasy, but then I need them to go a little heavier and more remarkable on the action front.

It should have been way longer, the constant moving of the camera made it very hard to follow the actions and there was a big gap between the crystal thing and them starting to use their powers.

Good writing and excellent special effects... and acting! This is a better than average thriller that holds up where so many get lazy - the story doesn't need you to make accommodations for script flaws or poor character development. It's edgy and keeps your attention throughout! I think it's a fun yet serious roller-coaster ride that keeps you somewhat guessing at what might be coming next! Good flick and I highly recommend it - it passes where unfortunately The Darkest Hour failed... good movie! See it!

Good basis for a good story but... most of it is filmed in the style of Blair witch project... at first almost nauseating with the camera moving all the time... if the story line had been expanded a bit it would have been good.

This reminded me of Cloverfield, which I HATED!!! The story isn't bad and it's not crazy to a point where you're like, mmm okay sure. But you are watching the movie from inside the camera so it's not usual shooting and I can't stand that, I mentioned Cloverfield, because it was filmed the same way and omg please let me out the theater! If you don't mind the cameras you might enjoy but for me the camera killed it bad and made it hard to enjoy the story which again wasn't bad.

I was expecting a teen/superhero sci-fi flick about three friends and how their powers divide them. What I got was a depressing dismal superhero/science ficton which was mainly foused on the character Andrew. About how he is constantly bullied, beaten by his father, and about how his mom has cancer. The other two Matt and Steve I liked. I don't know this movie overly depressing and violent. And even though the movie is less than an hour and 1/2 which is very short for these days. It still feels way too long. Too bad, it showed some real potential from the trailer.

Most of the best parts of this movie you have seen in the trailers. A bit jerky like the "Witch Project" movie, but if you have nothing better to do it's worth the time.

As much as I enjoyed the course of this lengthy 83 minute film Chronicle, it lacked cohesive development for me. I feel now as if the story was redundantly trying to build character and elude strengthening the core of the intrigue, which is the superpowers. I never felt the connection enough between them and the sentimentality in this world's harshness because of that. So, in a very risky movie that uses true camera footage to develop the character Andrew and his view, it avoids reaching deep down and remains flat. The special effects were not very good and despite many laughs, some very solid performances and the exceedingly attentive and well-done direction, Chronicle left me wanting more, but still enough to maybe go back to again.

Great and original film. How we handle power as humans combined with a very smart use of unexpected and unexplainable events makes it a fun, smart and thrilling film.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
There are several reasons for giving it a high rating; First, the introduction has a simple and effective method that really brings Andrew's world into focus (his alcoholic father, dying mother, and general lack of popularity in his life) Next, the scene where they stumble upon the crystal was well done. Personally, I appreciated the fact that they kept most of the camera clear, despite interference from the crystal. Third, the plot is at just the right pace. The start lasts just long enough to ease suspicion, but without causing boredom. The dialogue also had the natural feel of high school in it. Another great thing was how the effects were implemented. Moving an object across the screen is child's play for good programmers, but using it effectively is hard, especially without making it cheesy. In the end, while Andrews power keeps on increasing, he also seemed to stumble through every scene as though barely conscious. It lent realistic coloring to his death at the hands of his cousin. The movie may have been about the power, but it almost took a backseat to the familiar story of a troubled childhood.
