After Rounders, the second best cards based movie I've seen. The story wasn't overly inspiring, but the parts relating to blackjack were intersting. Any card player will enjoy.

This picture seems to be aimed at the youth market and as such it panders to the needs and fantasies of youth. That said, it has entertainment value but you have to accept flaws in character and story and suspend disbelief in the characters motivations. Characters in the film don't always act in normal ways and aspects of story and plot don't always make a lot of sense. But the pace of the story moves along well and the main characters are likable, so give it a try if this movie appeals to you. You may even like it more than I.

Great movie. Lived up to its expectations. Way better than reading the book.
| 9/10 | jhurkot@ - first review 7.4.2008 - age: 18-25 |
This was a okay movie, not bad and not great, somewhere in between, it was a little long and had some boring moments, overall, not too bad.
| 7/10 | rshunk@ - 27 reviews 7.4.2008 - age: 50+ |
Very disappointing. Not even close to the books storyline. Very distorted. Would recommend reading the book instead.
| 6/10 | riley28@ - 2 reviews 7.4.2008 - age: 50+ |
I really liked this movie. I thought that the acting was well done and the ending was not predictable like most movies.
| 8/10 | aliciajohnson@ - 5 reviews 7.4.2008 - age: 26-35 |
I preferred the film when I saw it the first time as "The Last Casino"! A good remake, but nothing more than a remake.

I thought this movie was very good. The girl who Ben had a crush on was sort of boring though. You never got to learn anything about her and her personality. She was nothing more than eye-candy which took away the romance for me. I didn't even think she was that pretty. 21 was hilarious and showed how much fun gambling can be.

Awesome movie. Definitely deserves a 10. Great acting... all around. Worth the money :-)

Yet another example of Kevin Spacey playing 'smart menace', his only dramatic persona. Jim Sturgess is bland and vapid as the math genius who counts cards like I count sheep. The only redeeming element to this trite outing is Kate Bosworth who lights up the screen in every scene. She makes Sturgess look like a 12 year old out on his first date. The plot is familiar - eager whiz kids take on the master hustlers in Vegas - but the team is too adolescent, self-gratifying and rather dull. The film peaked in Spacey's classroom scenes at MIT: engaging dialogue and mathematical minutae; yet became a dull whirr of card and chip shot special effects in the casinos. Only Laurence Fishburne seemed to really enjoy himself in this romp, when giving someone a sadistic beating. Being on the receiving end is hardly edifying preparation for Harvard Medical School. Would you trust your health to a physician with these ethics? Only in the American 'free-enterprise' medical system is this laudable. Give me Canadian Medicare anyday.

This movie was actually fairly good, the camera work, and sound effects were excellent. Go see it if you want to see an enjoyable movie. The only problem I had was the constant music tracks which they played almost every other scene.

Great movie! Seeing the commercial, I didn't think it would be that great, but it's definitely a must see. Actors/Actresses were amazing. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Amazing movie, everything I hoped it would be!!! Definitely worth seeing in theatres!!!
| 9/10 | lilaim@ - 73 reviews 5.4.2008 - age: 18-25 |
There is no plot to the story and whatever little drama 21 has is either far fetched or weakly argumented. It is a long, boring and pointless movie.
| 2/10 | ddgzz@ - first review 4.4.2008 - age: 26-35 |
Good movie, it is based on a true story i've heard, so that's pretty cool. Kevin Spacey did a stellar job. Every one hyped this movie up so much, I thought it was just another average movie. Worth the watch in the theatre, however I could have told you the basic storyline and the happy ending 15 minutes into the movie.

Awesome movie... really good story... the fact that it's a real story , makes it even better... Jim Sturgess, who was also one of the leads on across the universe, acts his ass off... really good movie... id watch it again.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE! I liked the love story and how fast passed it was. My husband also enjoyed it and thought the violence helped make it good.
| 9/10 | hot_pink800@ - first review 4.4.2008 - age: 18-25 |
Nice, I don't understand how the "counting" works with blackjack. This movie is very nice. Feel good movie.
| 9/10 | darwinwap@ - 3 reviews 4.4.2008 - age: 26-35 |
It was ok it didn't really make me sit on the end of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The movie was pretty much a predicable roller coaster ride , I even guessed correctly what was going to happen in the end. I also saw The Last Casino, it's the same movie so I guess that's why this one really didn't do anything for me.
| 6/10 | lookatthestars@ - 14 reviews 4.4.2008 - age: 36-49 |

I saw this movie already. Its called "The Last Casino" check it out... its kinda the canadian version. Exact same story line -even the ending. 21 was still a good movie tho, great concept. Worth watching!!! But if you've seen The last casino its like you already saw this movie then.

I think this is well worth the price of admission, a suspenseful, interesting story... a smart movie.
| 9/10 | pj_4ever@ - 2 reviews 3.4.2008 - age: 36-49 |
I found it very enjoyable. It really shows the addiction gambling can be and the power of money. I found it to be a superb movie with wonderful actors. Some parts were confusing, but you eventually understand it. I highly recommend this movie to gamblers, and those who need motivation to get into University.

I thought the movie was great fun. The action was constant and kept you into the story right to the end. There was not much violence, which was great. It was well acted. A really feel good movie. I would recommend it to all.

It's pretty good, if you like that type. Not that these movies are related, but it kinda reminds me of Ocean's Eleven.
| 8/10 | inna.fesh@ - 8 reviews 1.4.2008 - age: 13-17 |
It's a decent movie, a bit predictable. Acting was average. I think the producers changed a bit the story.
| 6/10 | dragao@ - 25 reviews 1.4.2008 - age: 36-49 |
Nice ending! NOT predictable! Go see it now. I will rent it in a couple of months.
| 8/10 | martc1977@ - 8 reviews 1.4.2008 - age: 26-35 |
This movie was alright. My wife & I saw it on a whim, it was the only thing we thought was worth seeing at the theatre. It was entertaining, sometimes slow, sometimes predictable but fun still. It was different enough to keep me interested. It was somewhat sexy but not so much as to glorify gambling. The actors did not really look like they were young enough to be in college. Narrative was boring at times. If you know nothing about cards or math, it probably would not appeal to you very much. That's where the weak story line shows.
