I believed the hype going in and was disappointed with what was delivered. I love foreign films for the window they provide on the world and this movie was strong on that point. The story was good if somewhat unbelievable but what ruined this movie for me was the cinematography. Endless close ups and dimliy lit sets, punctuated by staccato action scenes, long ones that could cause one to convulse. The one really bright spot was the performance of the actor who played the adult Jamal. Excellent.
