The movie is quite a good piece of art work from the Chinese director of the young/new generation. The Japanese invaders are no longer portrayed on screen as the purest evil/monsters, but they were fresh and blood beings as well. What really fascinates to tell is - the movie was almost never allowed to be made as the hardliners didn't like the humanizing any Japs in the movie. I am really glad that the movie, an epic by Chinese standard, still made a modest commercial profit... The film was the Chinese submission to the Oscar for the Best Foreign Films two years ago... I am really happy that it is to be distributed outside China! The Japanese, no less evil than the Nazis, imposed the horrors and genicides to the Chinese and other Asian people. Receiving all the sympathies from the world to the Shentai Earthquakes victims, the "Sun Empire" still worships the convicted warlords in the shrines/in the temples! Tell us where the justice is or will be!
