It wasn't bad - however throughout the film it felt like John Carpenter was trying to do his own version of an Asian horror flick. At times it was atmospheric. Very badly done effects for the perpetrator, extremely silly looking. It borrowed from movies like Identity, Gothika and Girl Interupted. John Carpenter isn't as effective as he used to be.
