First of all there were good aspects and not so good aspects. First of all it was way too long and drawn out, it's over-dramatics I felt almost killed the original story, which is a shame because the the Andrew Lloyd Weber version is good. The costumes and settings were excellent as was the key songs, however whenever I felt the action and the plot moving forward it was always thwarted by yet another meandering melody that was unnecessary to the story at hand. It could have been more powerful with some serious editing - moving back and forth between the black and white scenes and the colourized ones was distracting, why didn't they just have a black and white scene at the beginning and end instead of yanking the viewer in and out of the main story line. I can appreciate what was trying to be accomplished, but it needed more work to be truly effective.
